I'm not the only one who is enthused over the use of kennel decking. I just read a news article today, "Comfortable - Safe - Sanitary - Kennel Deck Flooring for Your Dog" where it mentions that it is used nationwide in Federal applications (presumably this is referring to dogs...) The article goes on to extol the benefits of using this type of flooring in your dog kennels, and why it is great to use as its more comfortable for the dogs, etc.
It really is just confirming all the things that I have already said about kennel decking. If you haven't had a look at the decking yet, and you're looking for something comfortable for flooring for your dog kennel, I would seriously suggest you check it out.

Kennel Decking
My favorite at present when it comes to kennel flooring, is raised kennel decking. Kennel decking is just like any other decking that you put down in patios for example. It's great because it comes in standard sized squares and it's ready to put down immediately on the ground or inside your kennel. No fuss, no major installation needed, just pop it down on the ground and you immediately have a very comfortable, hygienic and nice looking floor for your dog pen or kennel. It comes in different colors, notably usually brown or white. I like the look of the white kennel decking as it gives a nice clean look to the pen, but brown is probably more serviceable and it shows less wear and tear than the white one plus with the white decking you do have to be very careful to keep it clean and neat looking, otherwise it looks a bit grungy.
It's fairly reasonably priced, though if you have to pay for shipping as well you might end up spending a bit more than you had originally thought. Still, I think it is worth it. I've been totally happy with the kennel decking for my dog pens and I am pretty sure my dogs are happy with it as well. It is certainly a lot more comfortable for the dogs to rest on too.
Instant Kennel Flooring
If you're looking for a quick way to get a kennel floor down, maybe you're just after temporary flooring, or you want something that you can take with you when you travel, well instant kennel flooring is probably something you might want to look into.
There are different types of instant kennel flooring, but one sort that I've used inside of temporary dog kennels or cages, is the type that is made from heavy duty synthetic fibers. This makes it strong enough and durable enough for any dog pen, yet it is lightweight, easy to work with, move about and put down on the ground.
It can be laid over any drainable surface such as gravel, grass, or sand. Grommets are placed in the instant flooring at the corner, and you simply hammer a spike through the grommet to attach the instant flooring securely to the ground.
I personally feel that this type of flooring is great for a more temporary pen or kennel, although it does seem to stand up to pretty rugged use. It's also very easy to clean, you just hose it off or disinfect it when necessary. The porous nature of the material allows all moisture and liquid to soak through to the material--gravel or sand, or whatever is placed underneath the kennel. Definitely a worthwhile investment if you intend to travel or need to put up a temporary pen somewhere outside.
